What data sources does Visiby use?

Short answer: Visiby’s core data is the answers AI engines give to your tracked prompts: ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews by default, with Claude and Google AI Mode enabled per account. From those answers it measures brand mentions, cited pages and how you rank against competitors.

Around that, Visiby uses data you can choose to connect, plus public data from your website. Google Search Console and GA4 are connected with read-only Google sign-in and power the Search Performance view. Cloudflare is connected with an API token and powers the AI bot traffic view. Visiby also reads your site’s robots.txt, sitemap.xml and llms.txt, the JSON-LD schema on your pages, and Google PageSpeed Insights data. None of the connected sources is required to start tracking AI answers.

Bot traffic is available only if your site runs on Cloudflare; Visiby then syncs daily request counts from AI crawlers such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot. Visiby’s Google access is read-only, so it cannot change your properties or settings. What gets tracked is decided by what you give Visiby during setup: your domain, brand name, country, competitors, products, keywords and any prompts you upload.

AI engine answers

Each run sends your prompts to the engines enabled for your workspace and stores the answers and their sources. See which engines Visiby supports and how citations are tracked.

Google Search Console and GA4 (optional)

You connect them with Google sign-in, which grants Visiby read-only access to Search Console and Analytics, and then pick the property to use. You can do this during setup or later from the Search Performance page. The data appears in Search Performance and on the Overview.

Cloudflare AI bot traffic (optional)

If your site runs on Cloudflare, you can paste a Cloudflare API token with Zone Analytics read access and your zone ID. Visiby then syncs daily request counts from AI crawlers on the Bots page.

Recognised crawlers include GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, Claude-User, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, Bytespider, CCBot, Applebot, Googlebot and Bingbot.

Your website

  • robots.txt: whether each AI crawler is allowed or blocked.
  • llms.txt: whether the file exists.
  • sitemap.xml: the pages you publish.
  • JSON-LD schema: the structured data types on your pages.
  • Google PageSpeed Insights: mobile performance data for your pages.

What you tell Visiby during setup

Your domain, brand name, country, competitors, products, keywords and any prompts you upload decide what gets tracked. You can also upload company documents for context. See how to set up Visiby.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to connect Google Search Console to use Visiby?

No. Search Console and GA4 are optional. AI visibility tracking works without them; connecting them adds the Search Performance data.

What access does Visiby get to my Google account?

Read-only access to Search Console and Google Analytics. Visiby cannot change your properties or settings.

How does Visiby see AI crawler visits to my site?

Through Cloudflare. If your site uses Cloudflare, you add an API token with Zone Analytics read access and your zone ID, and Visiby syncs daily AI crawler request counts. Without Cloudflare, bot traffic is not available.

Does Visiby check my robots.txt for AI crawlers?

Yes. Visiby reads your robots.txt and reports whether AI crawlers such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and CCBot are allowed or blocked.
