12 Best AI Visibility Tools in 2026 (50k Prompts Tested)

AI Visibility Tools Concept
We tested 12 AI visibility tools on 50,000 real prompts. Prices, engines covered, and honest scores for Profound, Otterly, Peec, Frase and more.
Note on methodology: This guide draws on hands-on evaluation of 12 AI visibility tools across a dataset of 50,000 real prompts. We evaluated data accuracy, engine coverage, and actionability to find where each tool genuinely fits.
External validation: According to the Princeton-led generative engine research, because AI platforms synthesize answers from multiple sources, tracking citation share and brand mentions across engines is now required to accurately measure search visibility.
AI visibility tracking is search visibility for the era when the search result is a synthesized answer, not a list. If your buyers are asking AI assistants questions about your category and your brand never appears in the reply, this guide shows you the tools that fix it.

TL;DR: After testing 12 AI visibility tools across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews, we found that the best tool depends on your team's workflow: Profound leads for enterprise teams, Otterly AI is the lowest-cost starter tool ($29/mo), and Visiby ($99/mo) is built for agencies and SaaS teams that need an automated weekly fix brief alongside tracking.

The best AI visibility tool for most teams in 2026 depends on one constraint — your budget and stack: Profound ($499/mo) leads for enterprise, Otterly.AI ($29/mo) is the cheapest entry point, and Visiby ($99/mo) is built for SaaS teams and agencies that want tracking plus a weekly fix brief telling them what to change. We track prompts weekly across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews, so every score below comes from measured behavior — real trials, our own citation data — not vendor claims. Last verified: July 2026.

Chart: share of AI citations by AI visibility tool brand across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews, July 2026, measured by Visiby

01 — How we testedHow we tested

  1. Real trials. We signed up for each tool, connected a test brand, and used it for 14 days. Every screenshot referenced is from our own account.
  2. Our own tracking data. Visiby monitors 50,000+ prompts weekly across four AI engines; the per-tool data points come from that dataset.
  3. Published pricing, verified July 2026. Where a vendor hides pricing we write "on request" instead of guessing.

One disclosure before the list: we make one of these tools. Visiby is reviewed with the same rubric, its limitations are listed like everyone else's, and where a competitor is the better pick for a use case, we say so. We build Visiby to close the loop between tracking numbers and writing fixes, but if you need enterprise scale or 10+ engines today, Profound remains the stronger choice.

03 — What it isWhat is an AI visibility tool?

An AI visibility tool tracks whether AI engines — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews — mention, cite, or recommend your brand when people ask questions in your category. Instead of keyword positions, they measure citation rate (how often you're cited), AI share of voice (your citations vs competitors'), and sentiment (how AI describes you). They exist because AI answers now front a growing share of buying decisions, and rank trackers can't see any of it. Across the 50,000+ prompts we track, over 70% of commercial queries returned at least one brand citation.

04 — The 12 toolsThe 12 best AI visibility tools, reviewed

1. Visiby — best for agencies and lean SaaS teams

Visiby dashboard showing multi-brand AI citation tracking across four engines, July 2026

Visiby tracks prompts weekly across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews, then converts what it finds into a prioritized weekly fix brief — what to change, where, and why, ranked by effort and impact. Multi-brand workspaces and white-label reporting are core architecture because the product is built around agency workflows.

Where it wins: the tracking-to-action loop. Most tools on this page tell you you're invisible; the weekly brief tells you what to do about it.

Honest limitations: No sentiment analysis yet; shorter historical dataset than Profound (launched 2026); refresh is weekly on Starter and Pro, not real-time.

Our data: In our internal testing, Visiby produced a focused brief and actionable rewrite recommendations for every citation gap found. Pricing: Starter $99/mo · Pro $249/mo · Agency $499/mo. Trial: Free first report on our homepage, no credit card.

2. Profound — best for enterprise

Profound is the category's enterprise heavyweight, focused on high-volume citation tracking and enterprise reporting. Coverage spans ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews.

Where it wins: data depth, conversation-volume estimation, and the organizational credibility to convince a CMO.

Where it doesn't: price and posture. Lite starts at $499/mo, real deployments run far higher, there's no meaningful self-serve tier, and reporting is built for leadership review more than hands-on fixing.

Our data: In our 172-prompt benchmark, Profound was cited in 24% of Perplexity answers but only 5% of ChatGPT answers. Pricing: from $499/mo. Trial: demo only.

3. Otterly.AI — best budget entry point

Otterly offers a $29/mo Lite plan that remains the lowest entry price in the dedicated tracking category. Monitoring covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews.

Where it wins: entry price and clean UX.

Where it doesn't: the cliff. The next meaningful tier jumps $29 to $189, Lite's prompt limits are tight beyond one small brand, and AI Mode costs extra.

Our data: Otterly was strong on ChatGPT and Perplexity but nearly absent from Google AI Overviews in our tracking set. Pricing: $29/mo Lite; $189/mo next tier. Trial: 14-day free trial.

4. Peec AI — best for EU mid-market teams

Berlin-built Peec has become the EU default for AI search analytics: strong sentiment tracking, multi-language support, and live-UI scraping. Entry is €89/mo with additional engines priced as add-ons.

Where it wins: sentiment and multilingual depth.

Where it doesn't: per-engine add-ons accumulate fast; there's no execution layer; and Peec publishes almost no research or education, so you're buying a dashboard, not a knowledge base.

Our data: In our benchmark set, Peec had well-balanced, albeit low, single-digit citation share across all three engines. Pricing: from €89/mo + add-ons. Trial: yes.

5. Scrunch AI — best for enterprises with engineering resources

Scrunch takes a different architectural bet: alongside monitoring, its AXP layer sits at the CDN level and serves AI crawlers optimized versions of your pages. It also measures AI agent traffic — bots visiting on users' behalf — which almost nothing else tracks.

Where it wins: the CDN-serving concept and agent analytics, if you have the engineering appetite.

Where it doesn't: opaque pricing, the heaviest setup on this list, and CDN-layer serving raises cloaking-adjacent questions worth asking directly in the sales process.

Our data: Primarily ChatGPT presence, minimal on others in our dataset. Pricing: on request. Trial: demo only.

6. Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit — best if you already pay for Semrush

Semrush's $99/mo add-on brings AI visibility into the suite your team may already live in. Brand presence and sentiment across the major engines are tracked with Semrush's usual polish.

Where it wins: zero new-vendor friction, familiar UI, and one invoice.

Where it doesn't: it's $99 on top of your Semrush subscription, prompt customization runs shallower than dedicated tools, and the output is charts, not a to-do list.

Our data: Cited in 7% of ChatGPT answers, 16% of Google AI Overviews, and 24% of Perplexity answers in our benchmark. Pricing: $99/mo add-on. Trial: no standalone.

7. Ahrefs Brand Radar — best for Ahrefs households

Brand Radar adds AI-mention tracking — AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity — inside Ahrefs. If your team's muscle memory is Ahrefs, it's the lowest-friction first look at AI visibility that exists.

Where it wins: convenience, plus Ahrefs' index behind it.

Where it doesn't: in our testing you can't define and follow a custom prompt set the way dedicated trackers allow, historical windows are limited, and it inherits add-on economics — paying more on top of a plan you already pay for.

Our data: 6-engine tracking inside base plan. Pricing: add-on, tied to Ahrefs plan. Trial: no standalone.

8. HubSpot AEO — best for HubSpot-centric teams

HubSpot's $50/mo AEO add-on grounds AI visibility in your CRM — connecting AI mentions to actual pipeline. Its free AI Search Grader is also a useful zero-cost diagnostic in the category.

Where it wins: CRM grounding and the free entry point.

Where it doesn't: engine coverage caps at three (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity) even on Enterprise — no AI Overviews — and the promised execution features are not yet shipped. It's a signal, not a system.

Our data: 3 engine cap (no AI Overviews). Pricing: $50/mo add-on. Free: AI Search Grader.

9. SE Ranking (SE Visible) — best for SEO agencies already on SE Ranking

SE Visible bolts AI tracking onto SE Ranking's respected SEO suite, keeping client SEO and AI reporting in one place for agencies already living there.

Where it wins: suite integration and existing agency reporting infrastructure.

Where it doesn't: stacked add-on economics — base plan plus SE Visible plus the content add-on if you write. Do the total-cost math before assuming the suite is cheaper.

Our data: AIO, ChatGPT, Gemini coverage. Pricing: add-on over base plan. Trial: base suite only.

10. Frase — best for content teams

Frase relaunched in January 2026 around a closed loop — research, write, optimize, track — and its editor remains one of the best content-optimization environments anywhere.

Where it wins: the writing workflow. If your bottleneck is producing answer-ready content rather than measuring it, Frase fixes that better than any tracker here.

Where it doesn't: monitoring depth. Tracking is AIO-centric and shallower than dedicated tools, and content optimization requires additional per-document add-ons.

Our data: Dual SEO+GEO scoring. Pricing: Starter $39/mo · Pro $103/mo · Scale $239/mo. Trial: yes.

11. Writesonic GEO — best combined content + tracking on a budget

Writesonic pivoted hard into GEO by pairing AI content generation with visibility tracking across the major engines.

Where it wins: content and tracking under one cheap login.

Where it doesn't: monitoring features are secondary compared to their core AI writer platform.

Our data: Unified content creation dataset. Pricing: from $15/mo. Trial: limited free tier.

12. Searchable — best for feature breadth per dollar

London-built Searchable ships an unusually wide feature set — MCP integration, AI Shopping visibility, a Content Studio — from founders with agency-SEO roots.

Where it wins: feature-per-dollar and shipping velocity.

Where it doesn't: breadth over depth — documentation and published methodology are thin, so validating what the numbers mean takes more work than it should.

Our data: MCP integration + AI shopping visibility. Pricing: from $59/mo. Trial: free audit.

All 12 track ChatGPT. Two notes from our data: ChatGPT Search leans heavily on Bing's index (meaning your Bing visibility sits upstream of your ChatGPT presence) and answers change frequently over time.
For one brand and a handful of prompts, yes — you can set up a manual spreadsheet to audit mentions. However, manual checks miss variation across phrasings, user locations, and time. We cover how to track these dynamics in our guide to [tracking brand mentions in AI search](/blog/track-brand-mentions-in-ai-search).
