An AI visibility platform asks AI tools the questions your buyers ask, on a schedule, and records what comes back: whether your brand is named, where it appears, which pages are cited and which rivals are named instead. Use one when you need that record for many questions and several AI tools, because checking by hand stops scaling after a few dozen answers.
Visiby sells AI visibility software and a done-for-you service. Vendor details below come from each vendor's own pages; we did not test their tools.
This guide explains what such a platform should record, how to choose one and what to do with what it finds. To see how Visiby does it, visit our AI visibility platform page.
01 — What It RecordsWhat does an AI visibility platform record?
For each question and each AI tool, a useful platform stores six things. The table below shows them, with examples from a check we ran in ChatGPT on 23 October 2026.
| What it records | Why it matters | Example from our check (ChatGPT) |
|---|---|---|
| The full answer text | Lets you check any score against what the AI actually said | Question 2: a 7-tool shortlist with a coverage table |
| Whether your brand is named, and where | Shows if you appear first, last or not at all | Question 2: Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit named first; Visiby not named |
| Whether your brand is recommended | Being listed is not the same as being the pick | Question 4: Peec AI given as the "default recommendation" |
| Cited pages | Shows which sites the AI leans on, so you know where to be listed or quoted | Question 2: vendor pages such as semrush.com/solutions/ai-visibility and ahrefs.com/brand-radar |
| Rivals named in the same answer | Shows who wins the questions you lose | Question 2: Ahrefs Brand Radar, Profound, Peec AI, Otterly.AI, AthenaHQ, Depra AI |
| Tool, date, location and signed-in state | Answers change by tool, day and place, so results only compare like with like | ChatGPT, 23 Oct 2026, India, signed out |
If a platform shows only a score and cannot show you the answer behind it, you cannot check its work.
02 — Key TermsMention, recommendation or citation?
- Mention: the answer names your brand anywhere.
- Recommendation: the answer presents your brand as a pick for the buyer's need, not just one name in a list.
- Citation: the answer links to one of your pages as a source.
The three often come apart. In our check, ChatGPT's answer to question 5 named 4 tools, but besides the vendors' own sites it linked to comparison pages from LLM Scan, WebPossible and Legency Media, and a TechRadar review of Ahrefs Brand Radar, as its sources. Those publishers were sources for the shortlist without being on it.
03 — AI CheckWhich tools did AI name when we asked?
We asked five buyer-style questions about AI visibility software in ChatGPT and Gemini on 23 October 2026, signed out. None of the questions named a vendor. The table shows every tool each answer named, in order.
| Question we asked | Named in ChatGPT | Named in Gemini |
|---|---|---|
| What are the best tools to track how often my brand appears in AI chatbot answers? | Peec AI, Profound, Otterly.AI, Ahrefs Brand Radar, Semrush | HubSpot AEO, Profound, Otterly.AI, AthenaHQ, Topcited, Adobe LLM Optimizer |
| Which platforms monitor brand visibility across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews? | Semrush, Ahrefs Brand Radar, Profound, Peec AI, Otterly.AI, AthenaHQ, Depra AI | DemandSphere, Profound, Geoptie, Rankscale, Cognizo, Hall, LLMrefs |
| Recommend software that shows whether AI assistants mention my company or my competitors. | Profound, Peec AI, Otterly.AI, RankPrompt, Semrush | Rankscale, Siftly, Otterly.AI, ZipTie, Ahrefs Brand Radar, Semrush |
| What is the best AI visibility platform for a mid-size B2B company? | Peec AI, Profound, Scrunch, Otterly.AI | Peec AI, Geoptie, Profound, Rankscale, Semrush, Ahrefs Brand Radar |
| Is there a tool that shows which websites AI answers cite for questions in my industry? | Otterly.AI, Peec AI, Profound, Ahrefs Brand Radar | Rankscale, Profound, Otterly.AI, Peec AI, Qvery, LLMrefs, ZipTie, Semrush, Ahrefs Brand Radar, Similarweb |
Across all 10 answers:
- Profound was named in 9, Otterly.AI in 8 and Peec AI in 7.
- Semrush and Ahrefs Brand Radar were named in 6 each, and Rankscale in 4.
- AthenaHQ, Geoptie, LLMrefs and ZipTie were named in 2 each. Twelve other tools were named once.
- Visiby was named in 0 of 10.
ChatGPT and Gemini agreed on the top names but not on the rest. Rankscale appeared in 4 Gemini answers and no ChatGPT answers. Two of the five Gemini answers showed no sources at all. Where Gemini listed tools with a slash, such as "Semrush / Ahrefs", we counted each tool.
Prices were not reliable either. Two ChatGPT answers, to two different questions, put Otterly.AI at $189 a month and about $29 a month. Both are real prices, but for two different plans (Standard and Lite), so a buyer reading one answer would get only part of the picture.
04 — Not TestedNot mentioned vs not tested
A blocked answer is not a "no". Perplexity asked us to sign up before it would answer, so its 5 runs could not be counted. A good platform shows blocked runs separately instead of counting them as "not mentioned".
We asked the same 5 questions in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity on 23 October 2026, signed out, from India. One answer suggested an India-focused tool. AI answers change from day to day, so this shows what appeared that day, not why.
05 — How to CompareHow should you compare AI visibility platforms?
Check these points on each vendor's own pricing and help pages before you buy. Plans change often.
- List the AI tools each plan covers, and which ones cost extra. Otterly.AI, for example, lists Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude as paid add-ons. Ask whether the tool reads the app your buyers use or calls the model's API. The answers can differ.
- Count the questions (prompts) each plan tracks and how often it reruns them. Peec AI's Starter plan lists 50 prompts checked daily across 3 models.
- Open a sample report and confirm it stores the full answer text, not just a score.
- Confirm it records cited URLs at page level, not only domains.
- Check that it detects rivals named in the same answer, so you can see who is recommended instead of you.
- Ask how it handles location and language, since one of our answers suggested a tool aimed at India.
- Ask how it shows failed runs. A blocked or timed-out run should be marked as not tested, not counted as "not mentioned".
- Ask what each score is counted out of. In our own check we ran 15 signed-out checks (5 questions in 3 AI tools): 10 were answered and 5 were blocked (Perplexity). Profound was named in 9 of the 10 answers, which is 90%. Count every check and the same result reads 9 of 15, or 60%. A platform should show you answered and blocked runs separately.
Here is what five vendors listed on their own sites when we checked in October 2026.
| Platform | AI tools listed on its site | Entry plan shown on its site | Counted in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Otterly.AI | ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot included; Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are paid add-ons | Lite: $29 a month, 15 prompts, daily tracking | Prompts |
| Peec AI | Choose 3 models per plan from ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Perplexity and Gemini | Starter: $95 a month, 50 prompts, daily | Prompts |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot; Claude also available in custom prompts (each check counts as 8) | Custom prompts from $50 a month; paid Ahrefs plans include a few free prompts | Prompts and checks |
| Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, SearchGPT, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews | $99 a month, 25 prompts; no free trial | Prompts |
| Profound | ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews | Free 7-day trial (50 prompts; ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews); then custom pricing | Prompts (50 a day in the free trial) |
Before you compare prices, ask each vendor to quote the same questions, AI tools, countries and refresh rate.

06 — QuestionsWhich questions to track
Use two separate sets of questions, and report them apart.
- Discovery questions describe a need and never name your brand, such as "Which platforms monitor brand visibility across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews?" They show whether a new buyer would hear of you. All five questions in our check were of this kind, and ChatGPT and Gemini still returned a shortlist of 4 to 10 tools every time.
- Brand questions name your brand, such as what you cost, what you do and how you compare with a named rival. They check that AI gets your facts right, not whether you are found.
Keep the wording of every question fixed while you measure, so a change in the answer comes from the AI, not from your question.
07 — Not ForWho an AI visibility platform is not for
- Sites that are not indexed yet. Fix that first. Google says a page must be indexed before it can be a supporting link in AI Overviews or AI Mode.
- Teams tracking a handful of questions. A monthly manual check in a spreadsheet may be enough. Ask each question signed out, save the answer and the cited links, and repeat on the same day each month.
- Teams who mainly want to count AI visits. Start with your analytics. Search Console counts AI Overviews and AI Mode traffic inside the normal "Web" search type. Since June 2026, Google has also offered a separate Search Generative AI performance report, which shows impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode. It has been available to all sites since 31 August 2026.
- Teams who will not act on what the answers show. A platform only helps if someone fixes pages, earns mentions or updates content based on it.
08 — Next StepsWhat to do with what you find
| What you find | What to do |
|---|---|
| A rival is recommended for something you offer | Make your own page explain that offer clearly and prove it with specifics. |
| A third-party list shapes the shortlist | Check the list's criteria and offer the publisher accurate facts about you. |
| AI states your price wrong | Fix your pricing and help pages so the right price is easy to find. |
| A guide is cited but brings no enquiries | Fix the next step on that page, such as a clear link to what you sell. |
09 — MistakesCommon mistakes
Tracking only questions that name your brand. They show what AI says about you, not whether new buyers will hear of you.
Trusting one run. In our check, ChatGPT quoted two different Otterly.AI prices in two answers. Both were real, but for different plans.
Counting blocked runs as "not mentioned". A sign-up wall or CAPTCHA means the question was not tested.
Buying on coverage claims alone. Several plans include some AI tools only as add-ons, so price the plan with every tool you need.
10 — Tool or TeamTool or team?
A tool fits if someone on your team will write and fix the pages it points to. If nobody has that time, a tool will only show you the gaps.
That is what Growth Engine is for: our done-for-you service tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode and Claude, then publishes the fixes. It costs from $1,000 a month, with no contract. We don't promise specific rankings or lead numbers, because nobody honestly can.
